Locally is where we are at our very best.
Community happenings. Meaningful gatherings. Supporting one another.
Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory was built to serve the community. Community is important. We rely on our community not only to find comfort in difficult times; but also to celebrate the successes, achievements, and milestones.
In addition to caring for friends and neighbors for decades, our staff resides in our community where they are leaders and active members of numerous organizations including the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis, athletic booster clubs, volunteer fire departments, and churches.
Whether it is a high school game, a holiday parade, association meeting, or a charity event - there’s local color, character, and a distinctive sense of togetherness.
We are a firm believer that as neighbors, we should care about each other and look out for the well-being of everyone.
Locally is where we are at our very best.

Arlington National Cemetery
2016 - Sumner Brashears took his grandchildren (Quade, Erin, Maggie, and Kross) on their first tour of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Arlington is one of the country’s oldest national cemeteries. The cemetery’s rolling green hills mark the final resting place for more than 14,000 veterans, including those who fought in the Civil War. The cemetery encompasses 639 acres and this impressive landscape serves as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of every individual laid to rest within these hallowed grounds.
For 100 years, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has served as the heart of Arlington National Cemetery. As a sacred memorial site and the grave of three unknown American service members, the Tomb connects visitors with the legacy of the United States armed forces throughout the nation’s history. It stands as a people’s memorial that inspires reflection on service, valor, sacrifice and mourning. Since November 11, 1921, the Tomb has provided a final resting place for one of America’s unidentified World War I service members, and Unknowns from later wars were added in 1958 and 1984.
