Roscoe L. Tweedy, 78, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Jane Phillips Ascension Hospital. Roscoe was born Saturday, June 23, 1945, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Roscoe L. and Wilma Mae Maples Tweedy. Ross married Ellen May Carter on June 25, 1967. They lived in Springdale, Arkansas before moving to Bartlesville in 1980. Roscoe worked many different jobs and as well at Phillips Aviation in Bartlesville for 23 years until his retirement. Roscoe served in the Air Force until his discharge in September of 1965. Roscoe’s greatest love was his family and spending time with them all. He had many interests including watching his Arkansas Razorbacks play football, gardening, traveling all over the U.S., and visiting his friends and family. He definitely had the Tweedy orneriness and loved a good joke. Ross also believed Bigfoot was “out there” and it was just a matter of time before everyone was made “a believer”. Roscoe is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ellen; his parents, Roscoe Sr. and Wilma Tweedy; and brother, David Lee Tweedy. Ross is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamala and Shane Ballard; granddaughter and husband, Ashley and Adam Thompson; grandson, Racee Consedine; great-grandson, Mason Thompson; and great-granddaughter, Lainey White; brother, James Robert Tweedy; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Alvin Reynolds; and three sisters-in-law, Juanita Tweedy, Shirley Sparks, and Betty Grambling; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home with Alvin Reynolds and Brandon Murray officiating. Pallbearers will be Racee Consedine, Adam Thompson, Shane Ballard, Billy Joe Murray, Mike Reynolds, and Rymer Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Tweedy, Gary Tweedy, Steven Sparks, Mark Sparks, and Caleb Reynolds. Interment will immediately follow services at Lower Campground. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
