Roberta Lee Simpson, 89, of Huntsville; passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Countryside Assisted Living. She was born Wednesday, June 27, 1934, in Fayetteville; to LeRoy and Jamie Ruth McAbee Williams. Roberta married Albert Lee Simpson, and together they were parents to four children. Known for her strong work ethic, she gracefully retired at the age of 79 and a half, leaving a legacy of service as a bookkeeper at the University of Arkansas. In addition to her professional pursuits, Roberta selflessly cared for her mother, embodying love and compassion in every action. She was a lifelong member of the Johnson Church of Christ, and later attended services at Robinson Avenue Church of Christ; and her joy for music found expression in the choral group, the Sweet Adelines. Roberta also found joy in simple pleasures, enjoying friendly card games and embracing life without a hint of complaint. Her positive spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of those around her, leaving lasting memories of a remarkable woman who lived with grace and gratitude. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Simpson; one son, Van Simpson; one great-grandson, Carver Lee Cobb; her mother, Ruth Williams, and her father, LeRoy Williams. She is also predeceased by her two brothers, David Williams, and Charles Williams. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and JD Skelton, of Granbury, Texas; Teena and Dan Cobb, of Springdale; and Linda and Larry Keck, of Huntsville; one daughter-in-law, Laura Simpson, of McKinney, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Sherry Franklin, Michelle Skelton, Mike Simpson, David Simpson, Stephen Simpson, Jared Cobb, Justin Cobb, John Cobb, Nicholas Pugh, Christopher Pugh, and Justin Keck; and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 18, 2023, at Johnson Church of Christ with Keith Kilmer officiating and Greg Hughes serving as song leader. Pallbearers will be Jared Cobb, Justin Cobb, John Cobb, Nicholas Pugh, and Christopher Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Simpson, David Simpson, and Stephen Simpson. Interment will immediately follow services at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
