Loy Lynn Rogers

Loy Lynn Rogers, 79 of Japton slipped away from this life July 29, 2018 on the anniversary of his marriage to Bobbie Lea Williams Rogers.Lynn was born June 23, 1939 at home in Japton to Bruce and Oneida Rogers.Lynn owned and operate a native stone business for many years. He was no stranger to adventure and excitement as he hauled rocks, fished, hunted and raised his family. He was even known to hunt for a little treasure along the way. In his earlier years he worked building dams, in construction, farming, logging and picking Washington apples. In fact, picking apples may have proved to be his most important job since that is where he met his beautiful bride, Bobbie Lea Williams. They were married for 57 years and, together, they raised four children.He was a Christian and a member of the Mt. Grove Church of Christ where he led signing for years. His faith and love for Christ followed him as he journeyed to meet others. Many times he brought strangers into their home providing them with a job as Bobbie cooked a warm meal for them. He believed in living Matthew 25:40 and Hebrews 13:2. Lynn not only loved strangers, he loved his family and friends most of all. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren along with all his nephews and nieces.Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; Bruce Freeman and Oneida Fern Rogers of Japton, Arkansas, in-laws; Robert and Bette Williams of Pateros, Washington, one sister; Darlene Clark of Farmington, Arkansas, one brother-in-law, Lee Walden; and one great niece; Kayla Dotson.He is survived by his wife Bobbie Lea Williams Roger of the home, two sons and one daughter in-law; Loy Bruce Rogers of Japton, and Andy Dean and Shelly Rogers of Japton. two daughters and sons in-law; Vicki Sue and Danny Lee Martin of Japton and Kelli Kay and Allen Terry of Springdale. Four brothers and sisters in-law: Bill and Sharon Rogers of Fayetteville, Larry and Lee Rogers of Washington, Dennis and Pat Rogers of Japton. Two sisters and two brothers in-law; Bonnie Walden of Forum, Marlene and Wade Ball of Japton, and Wilson Clark of Farmington. Nine grandchildren and their spouses; Payton and Jordan Thomas, Candace Rogers and fiancé Dustin Serio, Samuel Thomas and fiancé Megan Eckerfield, Kaylena and Cody Nims, Joseph Rogers, Kamri Thomas, Shaylea Terry, Ryan Rogers and Faith Thomas. Eight great grandchildren; Kaleb Eckerfield, Mosston Cleaver, Hagen Thomas, Parker Wylie, Aeowyn (A-Owen) Serio, Everett Frymire, Beckham Thomas, and Tanik Nims.It is appropriate to add that he is also survived by countless friends and extended family. No one can deny that Lynn loved people and loved to create an upbeat and happy atmosphere everywhere he went. He also has a chapter written about him called, "Hunters of the Night". Never forget that if he knew you he loved you. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018, at Brashears Funeral Home with visitation for friends and family Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial with be at the Drakes Creek Cemetery with food being served directly following services.
