Tributes

Herman Lee Turner, 95, of Hindsville, Arkansas, died July 19, 2010 at his home. He was born April 2, 1915 at Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Thomas and Effie Bohannan Turner. He graduated from Huntsville State Vocational School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas. He taught school in Madison and Washington counties for many years. He was director of the Madison County Welfare Department during the Rockefeller Administration and owned and operated a dairy farm. He loved to read and collected many books over the years. He also enjoy playing chess, checkers, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of Peace Valley Church of Christ and was preceded in death by one son, Robert Turner, his parents and four brothers, Alvin Turner, Melvin Turner, Raymond Turner and Ralph Turner. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-eight years, Verda Mae Ledbetter Turner of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nita Wright of Hindsville, Arkansas and Rita and Stanley Jones of Springdale, Arkansas; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Donnie and Mary Walker and Bradley and Theresa Walker, all of Hindsville, Arkansas; four great-grandsons, Chris Walker and Cody Meek, both of Huntsville, Arkansas, Brandon Walker of Forum, Arkansas and Mark Scott of Witter, Arkansas; two great-granddaughters, Jessie Hauser and Dawnay Smith, both of Hindsville, Arkansas; five great-great-grandsons, Brad Walker, Braden Walker and Eli Meek, all of Huntsville, Arkansas, Colt Hauser of Hindsville, Arkansas and Matthew Scott of Witter, Arkansas; and four great-great-granddaughters, Natalea Hauser and Kennedy Smith, both of Hindsville, Arkansas, Sydney Walker and Lexie Walker, both of Forum, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Thursday, July 22, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Walker officiating. Interment will be at noon in the Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Chris Walker, Brandon Walker, Donnie Walker, Brad Walker, Stanley Jones and Mark Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jim Ledbetter, Jay Ledbetter, Ron Yates, Benny Smith, Cody Meek, Larry Belt and Don Bjork.
