Dorothy Mae Comer, 95, of Huntsville received her Heavenly reward on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Countryside Assisted Living, Huntsville. She was born Thursday, June 6, 1929, at Eureka Springs; to William Sherman and Mabel Ash Kelley. Dorothy married Jesse McClelland Comer in August 1947 in Reno, Nevada, and together they lovingly raised five sons. A lifelong member of Clifty Freewill Baptist Church, Dorothy was well known for her delicious pies, her dedication to canning vegetables, and her unwavering commitment to community service. With a servant’s heart, she selflessly cared for her late husband, hosted countless family dinners, assisted with vacation Bible school, and volunteered as a Salvation Army bell ringer. Dorothy embodied the virtues of a hardworking Christian woman, ensuring her grandchildren attended church and planting seeds of faith in their hearts. Her steadfast love and guidance left a lasting legacy, helping her family grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Comer; her parents, Sherman and Mabel Kelley; two sons, Jesse Comer, Jr., and Carson Comer; one grandson, Jack Comer; and four brothers, James, Daniel, Richard, and Vester Kelley. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Karen Comer, of Hindsville; Lee and Gayle Comer, of Clifty; and Kenny and Peggy Comer, of Clifty. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Baugh, of Berryville, three sisters-in-law; a special friend, Nella Shannon; as well as sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home with Dewayne Lane and Jim Kelley officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Tadda, Casey Comer, Jarrod Comer, Heath Comer, Anthony Giffin, Hesston Comer, and Christopher Comer. Interment will immediately follow services at Union Chapel, Garfield. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
