Andrew Jackson "Jack" Boyd, 91, of Springdale, Arkansas, died April 4, 2008 at the Fayetteville Veterans Home. He was born October 17, 1916 at Hindsville, Arkansas, the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Hardin Boyd. He had retired from the Physical Plant Department of the University of Arkansas and was later employed by Tyson's Foods in Springdale. He was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the United States Navy and was an ordained Baptist minister in the Free Will Baptist Ministry. He had been a member of the Masonic fraternity for more than fifty years holding membership in Springdale Lodge #316, Free and Accepted Masons. He loved reading his bible and fishing with Brother Paul and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Allie Hardin, his wife, Jessie Phillips Boyd, one brother, Lester Earl Boyd and three sisters, Dora McRunles, Edna Campbell and Betty Points. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Smith Ball Boyd of the home; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, George and Louise Ball of Lowell, Arkansas and Stephen Ball of Elm Springs, Arkansas; three stepdaughters and two stepsons-in-law, June Ball-Scott and Bob Scott of Springdale, Arkansas, Phyllis Turner-Sisk and Ron Sisk of Huntsville, Arkansas and Alberta Homola Shepherd of Plainfield, Illinois; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James Lee and Claris Boyd of LaHabra, California and William Dewey and Gurtie Boyd of Fresno, California; two sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Salem, Oregon and Dixie Nickels of California; seven stepgrandchildren; seventeen stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces including Ted Points of Springdale, Arkansas and Earlene Birdsong of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Georgia Points and Connie West, both of Springdale, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Monday, April 7, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul Payne offficiating. Interment will be in the Burkshed Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Mike Pennington, Steve Ball, Jeff Ball, Ted Points, Ron Sisk and Bob Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenneth Harmon, Keith Harmon, Paul Smith and Curtis Smith. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P. M. to 4;00 P. M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
