Robert Ion Saylor, 52, of Huntsville passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at home. He was born Thursday, October 7, 1971 in Conneaut, Ohio to Ion "Bruce" and Rebecca Jane (Webber) Saylor. Bob was a 1990 graduate of Girard Alliance Christian Academy, where he was so smart he skipped classes and still earned all As. He later attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. As a young man, Bob was known to be mischievous and hilarious - the life of the party. He always enjoyed athletics throughout high school and in college, especially basketball. He made it onto the college team as a freshman walk-on, which he was very proud of. He later went on to receive his B.S. in industrial technology from Southern Illinois University while in the United States Air Force. Reaching the rank of E-6 technical sergeant, Bob was a leader known for precision, excellence, and exceptional professionalism. He was a field instructor, and a role model in all of his endeavors. He proudly served for 15 years as a C-130E, H&J aircraft crew chief in the 50th Red Devils & 373rd Detachment 4. His attention to detail saved the Air Force thousands of dollars during his tenure. He also participated in many community service projects. During his military career, he was deployed to 38 countries, including Afghanistan. Following his retirement from the military and inspired by the loss of an infant son, Bob earned his nursing degree from Baptist Health College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He then worked as a pediatric nurse at Arkansas Children’s in Little Rock. His coworkers loved it when Bob was on their team - he always uplifted everyone with his humor and consistent friendship. When Bob worked in the NICU at Arkansas Children’s he met Rosalie Karigan-Winter, who became the love of his life. They were married in 2015 in Huntsville. He was a dedicated husband and devoted father to four children. Bob’s life was driven by his strong Christian faith, by his everlasting love for his country, by his loyalty to his family and friends, and by his ethics and integrity. Bob is preceded in death by his son, Robert Ion Saylor, Jr.; his father, Bruce Saylor; his stepfather, Jack Buck; and one nephew, Jake Feldmiller. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie and three daughters, Lauren Rachel Saylor, Willow Adelaide Saylor, and Helen Mirinda Saylor. He is also survived by his mother Becky Saylor Buck of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; three sisters: Brenda Neudeck (Dave Neudeck) of Chesterfield, Virginia; Sandy Feldmiller (Jeff Feldmiller) of Albion, Pennsylvania; and Rhonda Saylor of Greeley, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Angeline Karigan-Winter of Huntsville and Regina Karigan-Winter (Jason Martin) of Fayetteville; his in-laws, Larry and Marty Karigan-Winter, of Huntsville; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM with Jim Hepler officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Hearn, Dave Neudeck, Jim Mayes, Jeff Feldmiller, and Jason Martin. Private interment will take place at a later date in Fayetteville National Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
