Dr. Joe Phillip Hudspeth, 83, of Farmington; passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville. He was born Sunday, December 22, 1940, in Afton, Oklahoma; to Joe Tom and Zetta Ryder Hudspeth. Phil received his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. In his professional journey, Phil found fulfillment through his roles at Proview Foods, where he dedicated his expertise in their research and development and quality control department. Additionally, he served as a consultant with Spring Water Promotions in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Through these endeavors, he also embraced the opportunity to lead and mentor others, fostering growth and camaraderie within his field. Phil's heart was most content when intertwined with the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Parks, who he married in Hot Springs on December 30, 1995. They enjoyed traveling and a mutual enjoyment of athletic events, where Phil's allegiance proudly lay with his beloved Cowboys, Bulldogs, and Razorbacks. Yet, above all, his heart swelled with pride as he watched his grandchildren participate in sports. Phil's warmth extended beyond the realm of sports; he was a maestro in the kitchen, delighting in the preparation of wonderful meals shared with loved ones. His love radiated through his roles as a devoted husband, a nurturing father, a doting grandfather, and a cherished friend. In every aspect of his life, Phil's kindness and compassion left an indelible mark, forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Pamela Hudspeth; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jim and Dee Hudspeth, and Tommy Jay Hudspeth. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hudspeth, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Tracy Hudspeth, of Ada, Oklahoma; and Jason and Tracy Tice, of Farmington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Marques Fields, of Lovington, New Mexico; and Sheri and Scott Beeks of Prairie Grove; 14 grandchildren, Dane and Lisa LaBorn, Trevor and Skyler Crumm, Baylee Hudspeth, Jaelynn Hudspeth, Zane Hudspeth, Sara Hudspeth, Sandy Hudspeth, Jazmin Brooks, Robert and Alexia Burton, Chase Copeland, Jalen and Brie Beeks, Lacey and Nick Sugg, Ty and Katelyn Tice, and Cole Tice; and eight great-grandchildren, Isaak Burton, Kobi Burton, Breckly Beeks, Jack Beeks, Brody Beeks, Carsyn Sugg, Henley Sugg, and James Tice. Phil is also survived by many special nephews, nieces, family, and friends. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM Friday, April 12, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 AM, with Sandy Statham officiating. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
