Joann Bennett, 78, of Witter; went to her heavenly home, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville. Joann was born on Thursday, June 19, 1947, near Pettigrew, AR, the ninth of twelve children born to Oscar and Georgia Seals Williams. Joann graduated from Saint Paul High School in 1965. After working for Baldwin Piano in Fayetteville for a short while, she married Glen Bennett on April 15, 1966, when she was 18 and Glen was 19. They made their home near Boston, moving into a house built for them by Glen and his father Otto and other family members. Glen and Joann were faithful members of the Church of Christ at New Home. They grew chickens for over 40 years and raised beef and dairy cattle. Joann and Glen were married 47 years before he passed March 31, 2014. Joann was the dear Mama of Tamera, Tina, and Brian and the best Nonnie to her grandchildren. She was a much-loved daughter, sister, and aunt to members of her family as well as Glen’s. Joann’s favorite pastime was reading. That love was passed down to her children and grandchildren, (except Paige, no matter how hard Nonnie persisted). She became a great cook and a big help with the summertime operation of canning and freezing the bountiful Bennett garden. She was an accomplished stitcher, making many dresses and clothes for her girls and grand-daughters as well as many fabric books for grandkids and great-grands. Joann immensely enjoyed having a cup of hot tea, an ice cream treat, and her extensive shoe collection. Glen was found to have a brain tumor in 1981. This began Joann’s many years of taking care of him. In the time he was well enough to get out and about, she often had to chase him down to make sure he took his meds. Her dedicated nursing allowed him to remain at home until the end of his life. Whenever anyone in the family had to do something hard, she would say “you are just adding jewels to your crown.” We believe if that is the case, her crown would be too heavy to wear. Joann loved her children and grandchildren immensely and selflessly. Joann loved getting to be a great grandmother and was always amused by her great grandsons. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen Bennett, and siblings: Dale (Juanita) Williams, Imogene (Ronnie) Jeffers, Pauline (Jim) Weygandt, Wilma (Frank) Hackler, Wayne (Barbara) Williams, and Sharon (Lloyd) Haught. In-laws Otto and June Bennett, Fern and Doug Thornberry, and Calvin Bennett. Family left to cherish her memory are daughters Tamera (Joe) Richardson, Tina (Chance) Bryant, and son Brian (DeeDee) Bennett, grandchildren Claudia (Philip) Richardson, Brianna (Justin) Burgess, Claire (Blake) Richardson, Bayleigh Bryant, Paden Bennett, Paige Bennett, Layton (Aubrie) Bennett, and Kinley Bennett, great grandsons Baylor and Asher Burgess. She is also survived by her siblings Deana (Dennis) Brewster, Rowena Smith, Roger (Bessie) Williams, Jackie (Johnny) Williams, and Randy Williams. In-laws Janice and Herby Jordan and Linda Bennett as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with James Luedecke and Jeff Haire officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Bennett, Paden Bennett, Layton Bennett, Cody Wilson, Chance Bryant, and Justin Burgess. Interment will immediately follow services at New Home Cemetery - Pettigrew, AR. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
