Janet Lee Kerns Brandenburg, 76, of Huntsville, died Saturday February 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 28, 1944 in Winterset, Iowa, to Merl LeRoy and Elizabeth Ann Wineinger Kerns. Janet married Esley Price Brandenburg on January 8, 1972. They were married 49 years, making their home in Witter and Huntsville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Janet was a nurse for 48 years. She worked at the Huntsville Hospital, the new hospital, and Meadowview Nursing and Rehab. She worked with Dr. Austin Smith, Dr. Ivan Box, Dr. Bobby Wilson, and Dr. Travis Embry. She was respected by her peers. She delivered many babies, assisted in surgeries, and cared for hundreds in our community. Janet was a member of the Witter Community Church. Janet played the guitar, she loved to play music. She enjoyed attending arts and craft fairs, sewing, horseback riding, riding ATV's, making ceramics, and painting. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was one of her greatest pleasures. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Mac Trotter, one sister-in-law, Jan Kerns; 3 great-grandchildren, Syrinx Beal, Mason Martin, and Connor Martin; and one niece, Amy Lynn Kerns. She is survived by her husband, Esley Price Brandenburg of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Tebbles Brandenburg of Huntsville; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Price and Karen Brandenburg of Witter, and Joe Henry Brandenburg of Springdale; two step-daughters and son-in-law, Donna Kay Reeves of Witter, and Debbie and Alvin Ingram of Springdale; her siblings Patty Ann and Steve Dolan of New Virginia, Iowa; Mylissa Jo and Kerry BeLieu of Indianola, Iowa; and Jon Kerns of Ocala, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, please practice social distancing and masks are required. Pallbearers will be Casey Brandenburg, Jimmy Dolan, Jacob McComas, Shawn Dolan, Chuck McComas, Billy Dolan, Kenny Dolan, and Landon BeLieu. Honorary pallbearers are Norman Eugene Brandenburg, J.P. Brandenburg, Larry Brandenburg, Jon Kerns, Joe Brandenburg, Steve Dolan, and Kerry BeLieu. Interment will immediately follow at Captain Smith's Cemetery, Witter, Arkansas. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
