A Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Geraldine Strode, 83, of Longview passed away June 7, 2013, at the Kindred Transitional Rehabilitation Care Center with her family by her side. She was born October 23, 1929 in Boxley, Arkansas to Alfred Guthrie and Jessie Boen Guthrie. The family moved to California in 1970. Geraldine lived in Patterson, California till 2004 when she moved to Longview, Washington. Geraldine attended eighth grade three times because she loved school and there was no local high school where she grew up in Arkansas. Geraldine was married to Orvil Wayne Strode for forty years. They were wed on November 10, 1948 in Newton County Arkansas. Orvil preceded her in death in 1988. Geraldine was a devoted Christian and always emphasized the importance of God in the home. She was passionate about her family, loved animals, and music. Geraldine was a loving mother and friend to all. Geraldine was a selfless person, always willing to give love and support to the church and the community. Geraldine is survived by eight siblings: Lemuel and Lenora Guthrie of Medford, Oregon; Eileen and Jerry St. Martin of Tustin, California; Leslie Guthrie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Liman Guthrie of Rodeo, California; Nina Lee Guthrie of Joplin, Missouri; Freddie Glen and Betty of Park Hill, Oklahoma; Viola Bales of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Wanda Russell of Westville, Oklahoma. Geraldine is survived by eight children: Russell Strode of Salt Lake City, Utah; Charles Strode of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Carolyn and Jerry Young of Elkins, Arkansas; Jerry Strode of Fayetteville, Arkansas; David Strode of Ceres, California; Sharon Andrews of Longview, Washington; Ron and Stella Strode of Longview, Washington; Randy and Jennifer Strode of Hastings, Minnesota. Geraldine is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on June 27, 2013 at the Mossville, Arkansas Chapel with burial immediately following at the Mossville Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Randy Strode and Charles Strode. Special Music will be provided by Jason Strode. Pallbearers will be: Russell Strode, Charles Strode, Jerry Strode, David Strode, Ron Strode and Randy Strode.
