Ella Myrtle Traver Watson, 96, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Countryside Assisted Living in Huntsville. She was born on January 8,1922, in Doland, South Dakota, to Calvin and Edna Traver. She married Clyde Watson on July 16, 1942, and became stepmother to Clydeen and Joyce Watson. She is preceded in death by her parents; her five sisters, Mildred Cordell, Juna Grimes, Ruth Havens, Hazel Holland, and Violet Sisk; her two brothers, Victor and John Traver; her husband of 61 years, Clyde Watson; her stepdaughter, Joyce Watson Callico; her stepson-in-law, Lester Sloan; and her stepgranddaughter, Linda Sloan Bass. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Clydeen Watson Sloan of Wesley; one stepgrandson, Russell Sloan of Wesley; one stepson-in-law, Art Callico of Huntsville; one stepgranddaughter Elaine Callico Chaudoin (Gary) of Pettigrew; two great-stepgrandsons Michael Sloan (Brooklyn) of Huntsville and Mitchel Sloan of Fayetteville; two great-stepgranddaughters, Laura Bass Berry (Mark) of Fairhope, Alabama, and Chantal Chaudoin Bunn (Rusty) of Farmington; six great-great-stepgrandsons: Kane and Seamus Berry, Carter and Chandler Bunn, Dallas and Dosson Sloan; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ella loved Jesus, her chickens and gardening. She moved countless times to and from California, Louisiana, and several locations in Arkansas before settling in Huntsville. She never held a job outside the home, but led a simple life growing and preserving most of the food she prepared. It has been said she could grow more food on a postage stamp sized garden than most could on an acre. She loved working outside and found any job more favorable than housework. She loved growing vegetables but admired irises most and always managed to have a bed of different varieties and colors wherever she lived. She taught children's Sunday school classes through the years and rarely ever missed attending church, still attending Smyrna Full Gospel Church periodically this year. Her bibles tell the tale of much use and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.There is no formal visitation, but viewing is available from noon to 5:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2018, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Alex Foster officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Chaudoin, Rusty Bunn, Carter Bunn, James Sisk, Mitchell Sloan and Mark Berry. Interment will immediately follow at Huntsville Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
