Dorothea Kay Tate, 80, of Rogers; passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, Rogers. She was born Monday, April 10, 1944, at Hindsville; to Joseph Jackson and Mary Elender Vanderpool Cornelison. Dorothea married Gearld Tate on Friday, May 31, 1963, in Springdale, and together they raised two children. She was a devoted wife and mom who was described as a strong, gentle, loving, compassionate and hospitable woman. She dedicated herself to caring for her family with unwavering love and sacrifice. Dorothea found joy in her faith, gardening, canning, and cooking delicious meals. She especially enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden and was known for her irresistible chocolate chip cookies. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in her children and grandchildren. Dorothea was a huge blessing in nurturing and caring for her two grandchildren taking a huge burden off her daughter and son-in-law. She shared her love of the outdoors, gardening, and reading with them from an early age. She never missed a baseball game, recital, or basketball game. She also found joy in spending time with her three beautiful great-grandchildren. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Cornelison; five brothers, Curtis Cornelison, Floyd (Bob) Cornelison, James Cornelison, JR Cornelison, and Arthur Cornelison; and six sisters, Fern Cornelison, Margaret Ballard, Betty Evans, Nellie Miller, Florence Evans, and Pansy Jones. She is survived by her husband, Gearld Tate, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Jennifer Tate, of Bentonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Twilla and Rob Phillips, of Rogers; two grandchildren, Matt and BriAnna Phillips, and Lauren and Blake Dixon, all of Bentonville; and three great-grandchildren, Pax Phillips, Sutton Tate Phillips, and Clara Dixon. Dorothea is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Cornelison, of Springdale; and one sister, Phyllis Penick, of Rogers. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Jerry Henshaw officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Cornelison, Jonathan Cornelison, Jeb Cornelison, Jerod Cornelison, James Cornelison, Steven Cornelison, and Isaac Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Cornelison, Floyd Cornelison, Johnny Cornelison, Rick Evans and Gene Evans. Interment will immediately follow services at Colbaugh Cemetery, Hindsville. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
