Betty J. Evans Dillahunty, 89, of Huntsville; died Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Huntsville. She was born Thursday, October 23, 1930, at Hagerman, New Mexico; to Vard and Lorena Cotton Evans. Betty married Glynn Dillahunty in November 1949, at Huntsville; and together they were parents to five children. Betty retired from the Department of Human Services, after 28 years as a licensed social worker and county director. She was also a case worker for the Madison County Veteran Services, and a member of the Presley Chapel United Methodist Church at Alabam. Betty was a world traveler and enjoyed taking trips overseas, even by herself. Betty was a member of Kiwanis Club and the Chamber of Commerce, and a 70-year member of the Huntsville Order of the Eastern Star #487 where she served as Past Matron, Past Deputy Grand Lecturer, and Past Grand Representative. She was the recipient of the Robert Morris award for special achievement. Betty was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Francis Glynn Dillahunty; one daughter, Frances Dillahunty; three brothers, Glen Evans, LV Evans, and JD Evans; and four sisters, Pauline Middlebrooks, Lillie Richards, Frances Evans, and Edna Burgess. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Linda Dillahunty of Sugarland, Texas; and Jerry and Anita Dillahunty of Plainview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glynna and James Markley of Huntsville; and Teresa and Randy Dempsey of McKinney, Texas; two brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Earlene Evans of Wichita, Kansas; and Donald and Linda Evans of Napa, California; one brother-in-law, Jerry Burgess of Huntsville; and three sisters-in-law, Wanda Evans and Iva Lee Evans of Huntsville; and Leona Hefner of Roswell, New Mexico; five grandsons, Glynn and Cindy Dillahunty of Apple Valley, Minnesota; Alan Welch of Plainview; Byron and Mechia Markley of Huntsville, Stuart Markley of Huntsville, and Matthew Dempsey of McKinney, Texas; six granddaughters, Beth Rowell of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Emily Reyes of Parker, Colorado; Jennifer and Darren Thornberry of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Ashley Dillahunty of Los Angeles, California; Rena Markley and John Benge of Arlington, Texas; and Maegan Dempsey of Nashville, Tennessee; ten great-grandchildren, Rayce Markley and Alicen Markley; Nicholas Rowell and Rachel Rowell; Caden Thornsberry and Conner Thornsberry; and David Reyes and Adam Reyes; and Catelyn Dillahunty and Ella Dillahunty. Due to COVID-19, no public services will be held. Betty will lie in state Noon to 7:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2020; at Brashears Funeral Home for the public to sign the registry. Private interment will take place at Alabam Cemetery. Memorials in Betty's name may be made to the Masonic Family Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1082, Huntsville, AR 72740. Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
