Bertha Easterling

Bertha B. Easterling, 97, of Springdale; passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab. She was born Saturday, March 19, 1927, at Wharton Creek; to Steve and Margaret Ada Walker Lyman. Bertha married Odell Easterling on Sunday, October 13, 1946, at Wharton Creek; and together they were parents to three children. In their early years of married life, they followed the fruit harvest in Washington State. He and Bertha moved back to Arkansas in 1954 where they purchased the first portion of their farm in Madison County. In 1979, they moved to what is now 40th Street in Springdale, then to Nob Hill where she and Odell enjoyed getting in the pickup to go check their cattle. Bertha was a member of the House of Worship and had a passion for gardening and canning. She was renowned for her cooking, especially her chicken and dumplings and pinto bean pie. Bertha also enjoyed crocheting and sewing and was known for her generous and caring nature towards her family. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Ada Lyman; her husband, Odell Easterling; two grandchildren, Steven Easterling and Pamela Easterling; two daughters-in-law, Sherida Easterling and Janet Easterling; one brother, JD Lyman; and four sisters, Jewell Dotson, Lulie Reynolds, Chleo Faulkner, and Rheua Watkins. She is survived by two sons, Larry Easterling, of Huntsville; and Terry Easterling, of Springdale; and one daughter Kathy "Polly" Roles, and husband Claude, of Hatfield; six grandchildren, Rebecca Nelle, Keven Easterling, Larae Harvey, Shawna Cline, Chad Roles, RaeDell Davis, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home with Euel Bilderback officiating. Pallbearers will be Christian Nelle, Swain Harvey, Keven Easterling, Chris Cline, Chad Roles, and Justin Davis. Interment will immediately follow services at Aurora Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
