Baylen James Cotton

Baylen James Cotton, 3 months and 23 days old, of Wesley; gained his angel wings Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born Monday, May 18, 2026, in Houston, Texas; to Brett Patrick and Delanie May Tipton Cotton. His life was short, but he was oh, so deeply loved. Baylen was known by many as “the most handsome boy in the NICU.” From the very beginning, he had a way of capturing the hearts of everyone who met him. He came into this world with beautiful red hair, just like his Daddy had as a baby, even though we were sure it would eventually turn dark like his Mommy’s. That little head of red hair was just one of the many things that made Baylen so wonderfully, unmistakably himself. During his time in the NICU at Texas Children’s, Baylen was loved by so many nurses, doctors, and everyone who had the privilege of caring for him. He left an impression on each of them, and his sweet spirit was impossible to miss. One of his doctors once said that Baylen had the boldest personality for such a young baby. He had a way of giving the best little side-eye, and he especially loved playing opossum when his nurses came in for physical therapy. When they reached out to touch him, he would pretend to be fast asleep. But as soon as they stopped, he would crack one little eye open, as if to make sure they knew he was keeping an eye on them. Baylen found comfort in his beloved Mr. Chicken and Mr. Duck, his sweet little stuffed animals who were always close by. Though Baylen’s time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the love he received will never be measured by time. He was cherished beyond words, held close, and surrounded by love every step of the way. His little life made a lasting imprint on so many hearts. He will forever be our beautiful boy, deeply missed and endlessly loved. Baylen was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, James and Gloria Sisk and his great grandpa, Billy Cotton. He is survived by his loving parents, Brett and Delanie Cotton, of the home; maternal grandparents, Chad and Jerri Faye Tipton, of Huntsville; paternal grandparents, Kent and Tresa Cotton, of Wesley; and his great-grandparents, Kim and Cathy Tipton, of Huntsville, Janice Cotton, of Wesley, and Randy and Kathleen Garrett, of Drakes Creek. Graveside Service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 18, 2026, at Groseclos Cemetery with Bailey Cotton officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dugger Tipton, Garrett Osbon, Caden Watkins, Caleb Watkins, Cash Sizemore, Chad Tipton, and Kent Cotton. The family is deeply grateful to our community for all the love, prayers, and support shown to our family. We also thank the doctors and nurses at Texas Childrens Hospital for their kindness, care, and compassion during this difficult time. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
