    Velda Armer

    October 12, 1925 - February 5, 2021

Velda Birgie King Armer, 95, of Kingston, departed this earthly life & made her way to Heaven on February 5, 2021, at home, with her family surrounding her. She was born on October 12, 1925, at home, near Kingston, to Frank May & Mary Elizabeth Clayton King. Velda lived her entire life in the counties of Newton & Madison, here in Arkansas. She attended school at the Elkhorn Schoolhouse & attended church there for many years, as well. She was very involved in the church at Elkhorn, serving as Sunday School Secretary from 1962-1963 & Church Secretary from 1977-1986. Velda enjoyed visiting other churches through the years & as her health declined, she loved watching her "TV preachers". She was a talented seamstress & crafter & made many beautiful quilts throughout the years. She was also an avid gardener with an amazingly green thumb. She enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, & thoroughly loved researching genealogy & family history. Velda married James Carl Armer on July 4, 1941 & together they celebrated 55 years of marriage. They made their life on their farm near Kingston, raising hogs, cattle, & chickens. Velda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters, two brothers, & all of their respective spouses. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Junior & Billie Armer of Kingston, her granddaughter & grandson-in-law, David & Julia Jackson, her very special great grand dog, Bella Rose Jackson, whom she dearly loved, a large extended family of nephews, nieces, & cousins, & a host of friends & neighbors who will certainly miss her. A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, AR, with her nephew, David Watson & a close family friend, Coy Siegrest, officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis King, Lane Weaver, Anthony Root, Dustin Davidson, Rick McCoy, & Jacob Smith. Honorary Pallbearers include her nieces & nephews, Doyle Root, Lorene McElhaney, her friends on the Senior Center Bus, & those attending the Madison County Senior Center during the many years she attended. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to two people who seemed to be Velda's guardian angels, Lorene McElhaney & Lane Weaver. Lorene watched over Granny when she rode the bus to the Senior Center, helping her in more ways than we could ever acknowledge. Lane has been her mail carrier for several years & has always kept a watchful eye out for Granny. He has rescued her after she has fallen & has hand delivered her mail many times. We are so very blessed to have such wonderful neighbors who have helped us keep her safe. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory, Huntsville.
