February 20, 1928 - November 8, 2019
Maedean Lucille Scott entered Heaven's gates on November 8, 2019 at the age of 91. The youngest of eight children, Maedean was born to Samuel Ishum and Fannie Paralee Foster Miller on February 20, 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William Andrew, Nathan Riley, James Daniel and Alfred Earl; and three sisters, Dorothy Almeta Alley, Vella Cloe Grigg, and Vinnie Elveaira Allen. Also preceding her in death were two husbands, Ralph Joe Cane and Curtis Reid Scott; son Ricky Lynn Cane, and grandson John Michael Cheetham. Maedean is survived by her children, Connie Cane of Marble; Jesse and Sharon Cane of Neosho, Missouri; and David and Carol Cane of Wesley; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Whenever asked how she was doing, Maedean would respond with, "Lazy and ornery as ever". But anyone who knew her, knows the opposite was true. Maedean is remembered for being a hard worker, strong but sweet, tough but tender-hearted. She was a godly example of a compassionate, caring, and kind woman, always putting others before herself. However, the greatest legacy she leaves is that of her faith in the Lord. Maedean loved serving at Marble United Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 40 years. Regardless of her own circumstances, Maedean was always giving to others. She loved making crosses, bookmarks and fans for her loved ones and buying gifts for them (especially from Publishers Clearing House). Maedean considered everyone family and cherished every moment she had with them. She taught her family to love the Lord and His Word, to live for Him and to love others with His love. She ended each conversation with, "I love you more." Now it's our turn to say, "Granny, we love you more." The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Marble United Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Coy Siegrist officiating. Pallbearers will be Joseph Cane, James Cheetham, Luke Dunlap, Tim Felten, Nelson Giron, and Jason Price. Interment will immediately follow services at Lower Campground Cemetery at Marble. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
