James Harvey "Jim" Smith, 83, of Little Rock, formerly of Huntsville, died August 17, 2015 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born April 8, 1932 at Bowie, Texas, the son of Ray A. and Clarine York Smith. He was a retired rural mail carrier and businessman. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army and had been awarded the Purple Heart for his wounds received during his service. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was preceded in death by one daughter, Terry Ann Miller on December 25, 2010 and by one granddaughter, Abby Lynn Miller. Survivors include: his wife, Doris Christine Rierson Smith of the home; one daughter, Sherry Rogers of Little Rock, Arkansas, two sisters, Nancy Fry of Bowie, Texas and Lois Barnard of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Aaron and Deana Miller of Omaha, Arkansas and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Saturday, August 22, at the Aurora Cemetery with Pastor Mace Straubel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Friday at the funeral home.
