Geneva Fern Bruce, 83, of Tyler, Texas, died February 26, 2013 at the Providence Park Medical Center in Tyler, Texas. She was born December 4, 1929 at Drakes Creek, Arkansas, the daughter of Nolan Henry and Leta Clair Drake Parker. She was a 1947 graduate of Huntsville State Vocation School and a 1951 graduate of John Brown University. She was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church. She had lived and worked in El Reno, Oklahoma and Irving, Texas before moving to Tyler. She loved to read and enjoyed volunteering at the Presbyterian Church in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Truman Parker. Survivors include: her son, Robert Bruce of Palm Springs, California; one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Jack Burcham of Louisburg, Kansas; an uncle, Layman Drake of Fayetteville, Arkansas; an Aunt, Luna Watson of Bethany, Oklahoma; one niece, Thresa Johnson of Overland Park, Kansas; two great-nephews, Kyle and Alex Johnson, both of Overland Park, Kansas and many cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, March 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverend Lindell Watson officiating. Interment will be in the Drakes Creek Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Drakes Creek Cemetery.
