    Betty Alice Martin

    January 30, 1938 - January 7, 2015

    Betty Alice Martin, 76, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died January 7, 2015 at her home. She was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Albert McBride and Sarah Leona McBride. She grew up in Durant, Oklahoma and lived for many years in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Coleman High School in Coleman, Oklahoma, in 1955. She became a licensed vocational nurse in 1962 and later returned to school to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1976. She worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, before her retirement. Betty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Kevin Cooley, of Huntsville, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, James Martin and Gina Bennett, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four brothers and three sisters-in-law; Raymond McBride and Oscar and May McBride, of Durant, Oklahoma, Gearld and Tinsy McBride of Sherman, Texas and Earl and Patsy McBride of Alabama; one sister, Jewel Dewberry, of Durant, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Kristen Villines, Kelsey Cooley, and Samantha Cooley, of Huntsville, Arkansas; one grandson, Haden Martin, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three great-granddaughters, Amber Villines, Adabeth Villines, and Lakota McLoud, of Huntsville, Arkansas. Memorial services will be held at noon, January 17, at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville, Arkansas. Pastor Glen Faulkner will lead the service.
